Bidirectional charging is on the best way to your driveway, and it’ll quickly mean you can use your EV as backup energy to your house, or to economize by benefiting from utility incentives. Kia now plans to supply Wallbox’s second-generation DC bidirectional charger, Quasar 2, to Kia EV9 patrons, beginning within the first half of 2024.

Quasar 2 is an 11.5 kW bidirectional Stage 2 charger. A Kia EV9 can maintain between 76 and 100 kWh of power, sufficient to energy a typical family for as much as 4 days. In case of an influence outage, Quasar 2’s Energy Restoration Mode mechanically switches the person’s energy supply from the grid to their automobile.

Quasar 2 can be used to benefit from demand response applications and time-of-use charges supplied by native utilities.
